Most of us are under stay at home orders due to the ongoing pandemic. Whether you’re an introvert or an extrovert, this stay at home order isn’t easy, and we all need to ease our anxiety. Following are three things that I am doing to help with my anxiety:
- Perspective. In photography, perspective refers to the camera’s point of view (POV). In everyday language, perspective refers to “a particular way of considering something.” We control our own perspective by our own experience. The beauty of photography is that you can change the visual experience- which in turn alters personal perspective.
- Learn a new photo project. I am always looking for new ideas or projects to keep my creativity going. Some ideas for projects include, macro, black and white, low-light, and light painting. I sometimes get so engrossed in what I am photographing, that I get into a state of mindfulness- not worrying about the present or the future, I’m just concentrating on what’s in front of me and the time just goes by.
- Join a group or follow people in your photo space. I follow photographers that use Lensbaby Lenses and also ones that photograph flowers as this is what I like. I am also in a Facebook group for Lenbabies. By doing this, you can share your photos and perhaps create new experiences along the way.
Whether you’re new to photography or a professional, photography can ease anxiety in ways like these. Have you found the photography helps with anxiety? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
