I’ve been asked why I love rabbits. My husband and I have raised four rabbits since we’ve been married. Come to my house and you’ll find rabbit sculptures, vases and decor. One thing I that I’ve learned with rabbits is that they are very creative animals. The things our bunnies did always made me laugh or wonder “how did they do that?” For example, stuffing hay under a couch- “they fit under there?” Or playing hide and seek- they always hide where you would least expect it-like in the back of a closet behind boxes. (Our rabbits played in an enclosed playpen, and also got free range in a room.) Rabbits to me, are animals that love to explore and use their creative minds. I taught one of my rabbits how to play the card game, “Go Fish.” She would hop over to me, pull out a card and then she would go and find a treat like oatmeal.
The past two summers, I’ve had wild rabbits living in my yard. I’d watch them explore the surroundings, while taking pictures of them. I loved watching them to see what they do next.
What do rabbits have to do with creativity? Well, a lot actually. They are playful, curious and they love to explore. In a way, they show me something. That is to have fun while exploring my creativity. And that is why I love rabbits.
