As you know photography is my gateway to creativity. I love finding new ways to be creative with photography- new lenses, gear, basically anything that keeps me creative. Now I have found a new activity that I am really addicted to… Puzzling
A friend of mine is a huge puzzler. She recently participated in World Puzzle Days which is when people from all over the world do jigsaw puzzles and post photos of their works in progress and when they finish for two months. After seeing her posts and the puzzles she completed, I knew this is one activity I wanted get into.
This is my first one. It’s 1000 pieces. I puzzle for an hour or two in the morning and then a few hours at night. Sometimes my husband will work on it with me. It’s very relaxing and fun. And it’s great for the brain. At times, I get so in to it, that I loose track of time! Trying to find pieces that match together can be tough at times, so when that happens I take a break. The piece(s) will always show up. In twelve days, I’ve come almost halfway to being done. I don’t have a timetable to when this will be completed, as I am doing this for fun and the experience of seeing the puzzle “come to life.” Once the puzzle is finished, I am going to frame it.
Building this puzzle got me thinking that puzzling is a lot like how we go through life. There’s a lot of different pieces to a puzzle. As we journey through life, we are building a puzzle. We find and discover pieces along the way. Some fit together, some don’t. They key is finding the pieces that fit and then we build from those pieces. And then, all of a sudden we see the puzzle that we are building.
As it turns out, there’s more to a puzzle than just pieces. It’s what you do with the pieces that make it enjoyable.
